The auto industry has always done a good job of accommodating drivers’ needs, especially when it comes to technology. This was seen in the late 1960s when manufacturers started offering cassette players as an option, and again in the 2000s, when the US government gave the industry the green light to fully explore GPS’s functionality.

As your GMC dealer near Detroit, we’ve watched this shift for more than 40 years, helping a wide range of drivers find the right vehicle—with the right technology—for their driving needs. We’ve also enjoyed watching how this brand has answered the varying demands of drivers by offering reliable, smooth-riding vehicles that boast luxury, comfort, and much more. In fact, today’s lineup is perfectly aligned with what drivers want, with various electric vehicles (EVs) to consider. So, let’s explore these options and why we think GMC’s EVs are perfect for today’s drivers.

Three Incredible EVs From GMC

GMC’s electric lineup has three models to consider: the Hummer EV Pickup, the Hummer EV SUV, and the Sierra EV Denali. All three offer something for today’s drivers, whether you’re looking for a family-friendly option, something to help you get through the workday, or something that is both on-road and off-road ready.

GMC Hummer EV Pickup

When GMC reintroduced the Hummer after an 11-year hiatus, it turned heads in more than one way. First, the former gas-guzzling behemoth was now slick and streamlined, offering up to 1,000 hp. Second, it was an electric vehicle that could reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and boasted an estimated range of 329 miles on a full charge.

Today’s version of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup hasn’t changed much since its reintroduction in 2022, with good reason. When the brand debuted the new model, it made sure to check all the boxes. For instance, the Pickup offers the latest technology, including available Super Cruise. This hands-free driving tool is compatible with highways throughout North America, allowing you the chance to enjoy the ride more and arrive at your destination refreshed and ready to go.

Additionally, you will appreciate the flexibility of the MultiPro tailgate, the maneuverability of the 4-Wheel Steer system, and the clearance you get with the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, which gives you an extra six inches when needed. 4-Wheel Steer is also what makes the CrabWalk feature accessible: this allows you to successfully navigate out of tight spaces by aligning the wheels so they move diagonally.

Beyond these things, there are a few other features that make the Hummer EV Pickup stand out, including One-Pedal Driving. This feature allows you to accelerate and brake using only one pedal. Additionally, this feature uses regenerative braking to slow down the vehicle, essentially recycling the energy that it expends during the drive.

Another perk of the Hummer EV Pickup is the available Ultravision feature. This feature gives you up to 18 camera views of the area surrounding the truck—including the underbody—to ensure you’re able to navigate successfully regardless of terrain. Also helping you navigate is the available ProGrade Trailering system, which offers a long list of supportive features that make towing easier than ever.

Last but not least, the Hummer EV Pickup can be charged at home or on the go. At home, you can opt for one of two available options: the GM PowerUp+ Level 2 or the GM Energy Powership Level 2 charging station. On the go, you can find more than 200,000 options across the United States and Canada through the myGMC mobile app.

GMC Hummer EV SUV

The Hummer EV SUV has some of the same features you’ll find in the truck version, including CrabWalk, Super Cruise, Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, and Ultravision. In addition, you’ll find features that are unique to the SUV, such as the power swing gate, which makes loading and unloading cargo for you and your family easier.

Speaking of, GMC also thought about what families need to make the most of their trips. Thus, inside each of the three EVs the brand offers, you’ll find easy connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as easy-to-use infotainment systems that allow you to access your favorite apps, all while keeping your eyes on the road. Additionally, the availability of Google Built-In makes things that much easier. All you need to do is say “Hey Google” to gain info on sites nearby or to make a phone call.

The interior of the Hummer EV SUV is road-trip-friendly, with available features like the Infinity Roof or Transparent Sky Panels. The first option allows you to enjoy more natural light while also taking advantage of the breeze, while the second one gives you natural light but keeps you protected from the elements. Another nod to road trips is the expansive cargo area, which is even more flexible thanks to the adaptable cargo floor, which lifts to reveal a hidden storage area.

Last but not least, you will appreciate the available 13.2-inch color touchscreen and the 12.3-inch Driver Information Center, which allows you to customize the data you see most often and easily access your most used apps.

GMC Sierra EV Denali

The Sierra truck lineup has long been known for its rugged durability, and the Sierra EV Denali doesn’t disappoint. This light-duty pickup offers up to an estimated 460 miles of range as well as a MultiPro midgate that expands the bed box. There’s also an available Power Station Pro (which gives you 10.2 kW of off-board power) and Super Cruise. The Sierra EV Denali is the perfect option for drivers in the Detroit area who might already be familiar with the durability of the Sierra and the luxury of the Denali. Essentially, this truck is the best of all worlds, giving you outstanding driving range, power, and sophistication all in one.

When choosing the Sierra EV Denali, you’ll get a maximum trailering capacity of 10,500 lbs when properly equipped, a panoramic fixed glass roof, the 4-Wheel Steer system, and premium seating with luxury accents throughout. The Sierra EV Denali also delivers in regard to technology thanks to the 16.8-inch touchscreen, along with the ability to connect to compatible phones to access your favorite apps, directions, and more.

Also, you will love the options that the power-open frunk offers. This front trunk (which is also standard on the Hummer EV Pickup) is both lockable and weatherproof, offering up to 11 cu.ft. of storage space. This makes the Sierra EV a viable option for Detroit drivers who might be concerned about losing cargo space but yearn for the functionality of a pickup truck.

Finally, like the other two EVs, the Sierra EV can be charged at home or a public charging station. In fact, you can increase the range of the Sierra EV by up to 100 miles in ten minutes using a DC Fast Charging station, which makes it a great option for drivers on the go.
